Open this fire trail, as an extension of Bundanoon Rd Woronora Heights
Sent to Sutherland Shire Council 58 weeks, 6 days, 17 hours, 33 minutes later
This easement was closed in 2006 by rezoning it to 7A environment protected by order of Frank Sartor, Planning Minister. This was contrary to the advice of his planning team. It was hoped to get the road opened as originally determined in the Land an Environment Court in 1982, however strong opposition mainly from people in the Valley supported by the then Labor state MP Alison Magerrity persuade Frank Sartor to act on his own. Closure of this road causes the 3000+ residents of Woronora Heights to travel over 2000 kms annually to get in and out of their suburb. Moreover it has stopped the bus company to provide the residents of Woronora Heights and Valley a decent peak period bus service direct to Sutherland station which would reduce daily travel times for many by up to 40 minutes. Consequently many of these residents travel to work by car or drive to and park close by Sutherland station adding to the unnecessary and considerable parking congestion there. There have been many reports prepared over the past 25 years on this issue and in favour of opening this road and they should now be re-considered. There are dis-benefits to some peoples' life style as with all road projects but the overwhelming benefits to the overall community should be taken into consideration rather than to pandering the vocal minority to get more votes at elections State or Shire.
Problem has not been fixed. Sutherland Shire Council refuse to discuss this issue with those who want the road opened.
