Afternoon Peak Gridlock, Vimiera & Epping Rds Marsfield Reported anonymously at 16:12, Sun 15 June 2014 Traffic heading south on Vimiera Rd from Waterloo Rd during PM peak ignore a "Do Not Obstruct Driveway" sign adjacent to the driveway servicing 120 units at No 192-200 Vimiera Rd. This blocking of the driveway prevents traffic heading north from turning right into the driveway causing a blockage to all northbound traffic entering Vimiera Rd. This causes gridlock on busy Epping Road (already congested by the 3-2 lane constriction west of Vimiera Rd) and also northbound traffic on Vimiera Rd, south of Epping Rd. The "Do not obstruct... " sign is obscured by a Bus Stop sign also adjacent to the driveway and so, especially at night, is impossible to be seen by the southbound traffic. Moving either sign would help, however I imagine a painted [//Keep Clear\\] on the southbound lanes of Vimiera Rd would have more effect. A driver questioned at night about ignoring the sign replied, "What driveway, where??" Adding to the congestion is a pedestrian island restricting Vimiera Rd northbound and parking on Vimiera Rd southbound, effectively making only one lane each way.
