During the night there was vandalism in Seacliff Place. carloads of people arrived at ~9.30PM and later and went down the beach. There was lots of noise in the street. Garden stones are over the lawns and road and there are smashed bottles and cans in the lawns and gardens. We cleared the stones from the road but the large volume over the footpath needs attention. I was woken by a motorcycle (a 500cc single by the sound) at 2.30AM. Being exhausted, I could not wake up and take pics. This morning I was threatened by two unregistered, unlicensed, uninsured dirtbike hoons who said they came via the beach (? from the party) at your LMCC path boundary and explaining I was also a rider, refused to let them pass. I reminded them LMCC prohibits motorcycles on that path, on a sign beside them. Also, that their bikes were unfit for road use. They threatened to ride over me and I invited them to try, so a standoff with abuse and threats followed. I am 79 yo and a fight ratio of 2:1 young hoons without backup is beyond me. Eventually, they agreed to switch off their engines and walk their bikes up the road to the Wallarah Park entry, where it is of course also illegal for them to ride. I promised their descriptions and photos would be with the Police. They were young males, 18-20 hiding under helmets. The leader was aggressive and confrontational and threatened to assault me if i did not move off the LMCC path. he rides a n ornage and white new Kayo bike (KT250?) and a blue-black helmet.
These crimes are a good example of the Broken Window Syndrome i.e. if you don't stop petty crimes, pretty soon you have major ones.
