Loud ringing bells for almost an hour every Sunday

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand Church traditions.

But the ringing of loud bells does NOT need to go for as long as they do, what is the society-driven purpose of this noise pollution though? None.

I propose that the bells still ring every sunday morning, but for a maximum of 5 minutes, so that residents have a chance to get back to sleep.
