Safe pedestrian access

Reported in the General category anonymously at 12:33, Wed 14 May 2014

Sent to Ryde City Council 1 year, 4 months, 3 weeks, 6 days, 15 hours, 17 minutes later. FixMyStreet ref: 135.

Heading south along Terry Road there is no footpath on the left hand side of the road and the footpath on the right hand side goes under some large trees and emerges at a steep set of stairs. The only option for a pedestrian walking down this street is to use these stairs which if you have a wheelchair or are elderly or have a pram is not ideal or even possible. Also this section is not lit at night. Coming home from work I feel very unsafe walking through the pitch dark of the trees and then navigating stairs that I cannot see. I now have a baby and getting a pram through is now also impossible. Lastly, to cross into Commissioners road from the side of Terry Rd with the footpath is quite dangerous as it is a blind corner with traffic. This street caters to school children walking to & from the school at the top of the street.
